We are currently able to deliver farm boxes to New Jersey (Maplewood, South Orange, Chatham, Madison, Short Hills, Millburn, Summit, Montclair, Bloomfield, West Orange and Livingston areas). We are constantly expanding our delivery area so be sure to check back on the website often or sign up for our email newsletter and read our emails for updates on delivery area expansion.
Deliveries are made on Wednesdays between the hours of 12 noon - 6pm ET. Occasionally inclement weather or packing times may cause minor delays.
Our farm box price is all inclusive.
Yes, you can skip a week(s) if you have a subscription box.
To do this, log into your account by clicking the little avatar (person icon) in the top right, log in with your email address, and click Manage Subscription. When you scroll down you'll see a tab that says Manage Upcoming Orders. Simply click the drop down arrow and you'll see the option to Skip Order next to your upcoming boxes.
Yes, you can pause delivery if you have a subscription and want to put a temporary pause on your boxes.
To do this, log into your account by clicking the little avatar (person icon) in the top right, log in with your email address, and click Manage Subscription. Once there, you'll see your Subscription Status and the option to Pause Subscription.
Each Monday prior to that Wednesday’s delivery, the site is updated with items for that week’s delivery under This Week’s Box so you can plan your other grocery needs. Part of our philosophy is that we learn to cook with what's seasonal and available. Cooking with what we have is one of the ideas we wish to impart so you won't know the box contents until that week. If you are signed up on our email list you will get some teasers and highlights of what is coming.
The boxes can be customized as follows:

Each week there is a changing assortment of add on items that you can add to that week’s shipment. Items include coffee, meat, proteins like tofu or meat substitutes, sweets, or pantry items. These are one time orders (even if you have a recurring subscription box) that you must add each weekend prior to delivery that week. These can be found on our Shop page.
Choose from once per week or once every two weeks for your farm box delivery. Cancel anytime.
A subscription box comes to you once a week on Wednesdays and will automatically charge to your credit card on file. Depending on the box option you choose, there is a cost savings over the one time box. Set the subscription and forget about it--no need to remember to order every week! You can always pause the subscription. There is an every other week subscription option too. The one time box is one box received for the next Wednesday delivery -- same items but no auto shipment after that.
The subscription is ongoing as long as we are offering boxes. If we pause (or you do) there is no charge for weeks with no deliveries. You can cancel at any time.
Products & Sources
Some of the farms we work with are certified organic but many others are using organic practices but do not go through the process to become certified as it can be expensive and time consuming. All the farms we work with are smaller-scale or cooperatives and not using practices you find in industrial agriculture.
Our goal at Illuminate is to highlight what is growing locally. We are very in touch with the seasons and during the fall, summer and spring will only be including items grown locally. During the winter season, we will source one or two items from regions in a warmer climate so we can continue to support small-scale, sustainable agriculture.
Each week, our newsletter and website offer recipes and ideas to cook with your ingredients. Our public Facebook group Illuminate Food Community also share recipes, food pics and great ideas for ways to use what you got. Each week we offer a chef-designed recipe created just for you!
If you are missing something, please reach out to us. We do our best to order the exact number of everything but if you see from a photo someone got 5 apples and you got 4, please know we are trying our best and there may be tiny variations from box to box each week.
Any issues with quality of a product, please let us know. We are constantly giving feedback to our distributors and farmers so let us know when something doesn’t look or taste right. Photos are always appreciated.
